OUR HISTORY
Superintendent Jacob Perry, Sr. moved to Oakland, California in 1950 with his wife Collia Mae, and son Jacob Perry, Jr., and soon placed their membership with the Mingleton Temple C.O.G.I.C.
Jacob Perry became the youngest Ordained Deacon at Mingleton Temple. This young man was very serious about his calling as he was with everything concerning the Lord, and then was ordained as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ.
At the Lord's leading, Elder Perry organized the Prayer Tower C.O.G.I.C. in 1982, and held services in his home for a time. The small congregation later moved to 2135-47th Avenue in Oakland, where the Church remains to this day.

Under the leadership of Pastor Ronald G. Thompson Sr., Prayer Tower has grown and lives have been saved. God has used Pastor Thompson to reach across generations and show them a Savior that loves them unconditionally.
OUR MISSION
Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ of Oakland, CA is to go and preach the Gospel - the Good News about Eternal Life through Jesus Christ - to anyone who will listen. We are then to make disciples of those who accept Jesus Christ, by baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, finally teaching them, everything that the Living Word, Jesus Christ, has taught us in the Bible!
